Tatkal Booking Assistant (Chrome extension) · Last updated: 19 September 2026

In short: everything you enter stays on your own computer. The extension has no server, sends nothing to its developer or to anyone else, and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking. It only ever talks to www.irctc.co.in, to do what you asked on that site.

1. What the extension stores

All of the following is kept in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. It is not synced to your Google account and not uploaded anywhere.

DataWhy
Passenger profiles: name, age, gender, berth and food preference, and optionally an ID card type and number To fill IRCTC's passenger form for you
Journey details: from/to stations, date, class, quota, number of passengers, train number, name and departure time, and the availability you will accept To fill IRCTC's search form and pick the right train and date
Your IRCTC User ID (never your password) To type it into IRCTC's login form when you ask
Settings: booking-page preferences (payment mode, UPI app, insurance and similar), reminders, Auto-start on/off To apply your choices on the booking pages and schedule reminders

While a booking run is in progress, the journey and passenger details for that run are also held in the IRCTC tab's own session storage, so the run can resume if the page reloads. That copy is removed when the run ends and disappears when the tab is closed.

2. What the extension never collects

3. Where data goes

To the developer or any third party: nowhere. The extension has no server and makes no network requests of its own, with one exception: when Auto-start is on, it makes a single request to www.irctc.co.in to read IRCTC's clock, so that it starts on IRCTC's time rather than your PC's.

The details the extension fills into IRCTC's forms reach IRCTC exactly as if you had typed them yourself, as part of your own booking. How IRCTC handles them is covered by IRCTC's own privacy policy.

4. Permissions

PermissionUsed for
storageKeeping your profiles, journey and settings on your device.
alarmsThe reminder before the Tatkal window and the Auto-start timing.
notificationsShowing those reminders. Switch them off in Settings.
scriptingLoading the helper into an IRCTC tab that was already open before the extension started.
Access to https://www.irctc.co.in/*The only site the extension can read or act on.

5. Keeping or deleting your data

Your data stays until you remove it. Settings → Delete all stored data erases everything the extension stored, and uninstalling the extension removes it too. Export profiles (JSON) in Settings saves your passenger profiles to a file on your own computer, and only when you click it.

6. Voluntary support

The extension shows a UPI QR code for anyone who wants to support its development. Paying is entirely optional and happens in your own UPI app. The extension does not process, see or store any payment information, and nothing in it changes whether or not you pay.

7. Changes to this policy

If the extension ever starts handling data differently, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
